Description

Additional Information

Granular

Fertilisers

This conventional fine turf NK spring and summer granular fertiliser has high nitrogen levels for top growth and recovery, with high potassium to harden the lawn in stressful summer and autumn conditions. There is no phosphate in this formulation but added iron and magnesium that boosts growth and gives excellent colour to the sward, making your lawn shine. This balanced fine turf granular fertiliser formulation is ideal for use during the main growing periods in late spring / early summer. High nitrogen levels produce good strong lawn growth supported by phosphate and potassium to encourage a strong hard wearing sward. The nitrogen content features 25% MU giving slow release benefits, and added magnesium enhances lawn health and colour. Prestige Fine Turf All Season Organic 5:3:8 is a 1-2mm granular organic fertiliser based on composted poultry manure. Natural slow release nutrients with a reduced risk of scorch potential are ideal for use on turf throughout the year when temperatures are 6 degrees or above. Due to its organic nature and careful manufacturing process this fertiliser also has a very low environmental impact. This fine turf spring starter fertiliser is ideal for the first lawn application of the year. Low nitrogen and high potassium levels strengthen the sward and gives a strong initial spring push to the plant. High iron content helps to deter moss from developing with the added benefit of magnesium, improves the health and appearance of the sward. Prestige Kickstart 12:0:0 +8Fe + Seaweed is a high nitrogen and iron fertiliser specifically developed for early season application, aid turf recovery and enhance colour. Kickstart contains seaweed to promote microbial activity and Zeolite to improve cationic exchange capacity. The fine turf granulation of Kickstart means that it can be applied to greens, tees, fairways, sportsfields and lawns. It can be applied from as early as February, will give an almost instant response and last for up to 6 weeks.

How to work out Nutrient Inputs

Granular Fertiliser

Use the following formula to convert to kg per hectare: Application rate (in g/m 2 ) x % nutrient content of fertiliser applied ÷ 10 Example: For an application of 12:0:9 fertiliser at 35g per sq.m

35 X 12 ÷ 10 = 42 kg/ha. N 35 X 9 ÷ 10 = 31.5 kg/ha. K 2 O

The Prestige range has been formulated to provide the highest level of foliar liquid uptake and performance. Foliar feeds bypass the root system, allowing the plant to be cut at a reduced height, whilst maintaining a healthy colour and feel. Surfactants represent over 7.5% of the formulation, dramatically enhancing nutrient uptake by the leaves. The surfactants enable uptake through the cuticle on the plant leaf, not solely through the stomata. An organic acid buffer ensures the spraying solution is maintained at around pH 5, ideal for rapid nutrient absorption. Prestige liquids are 100% soluble and contain compatibility agents to improve mixing with water and other products in a spray tank. Complexing agents guarantee no adverse chemical reactions when pesticides are added in a tank mix.

All Prestige foliar liquids should be applied at: 10 – 20 litres per hectare in 300 – 600 litres of water.

Long term storage stability Prestige formulations are manufactured using a specifically selected high grade of inorganic salts which are very low in impurities. During the manufacturing process the liquified raw material is either filtered or allowed to settle for 24 hours, so reducing any remaining impurities to a minimum. Mixing, miscibility or dissolution in spray water Within the formulation there is an acidifying component which not only helps with the mixing and compatibility but also with nutrient uptake. Compatibility with other products in the sprayer The complexing agents within the formulation ensure that the ‘nutrient’ element is protected from adverse chemical reactions with any pesticides which may be added to the tank mix. Coverage of the leaf surface and adhesion Carefully chosen surfactants reduce the surface tension of the spray droplet allowing for optimum spread and contact with the leaf surface, whilst at the same time giving a degree of rainfastness.

Liquids

Uptake The efficiency of uptake of many nutrient elements is enhanced by a slightly acidic solution and where possible, formulations are buffered to take account of this. The spreading action of the surfactants allows uptake though the cuticle of the leaf and does not limit penetration to the stoma.

Turfgrass Leaf Blade

Stomatal Openings: Historically the entryway into foliage for liquid fertilisers. Large openings, but more often closed than open.

Nutrients transolcate throughout the plant.

Prestige Foliar Fertilisers.

Super Turf Solutions

During the summer, roots are under stress and therefore limited to their ability to take up nutrients. Prestige Foliar Fertilisers are formulated so the molecules are small enough to pass through these pore spaces and penetrate the leaf. Transticular pore spaces: These numerous, but smaller pores are always open.

How to work out Nutrient Inputs

Liquid Fertiliser (Weight/Weight)

In order to calculate the nutrient inputs from liquid fertilisers you need to use the Specific Gravity (kg/litre) of the specific product being used. Use the following formula to calculate nutrient input: (Ltr/ha.) x Specific Gravity (SG) x (% Nutrient/100) = kg nutrient/ha. Example: For an application of 15:0:12 @ 40 Ltr/ha. (SG = 1.25kg/Ltr) convert application rate from Ltr/ha. to kg/ha. (40Ltr/ha. X 1.25 = 50kg/ha.) Multiply product rate (kg/ha.) by % N content (ie. 50 X 15% = 7.5kg/ha.) Multiply product rate (kg/ha.) by % K content (ie. 50 X 12% = 6.0kg/ha.)

Super Turf Solutions Liquids

Liquid Fertiliser (Weight/Volume)

Use the following formula to calculate nutrient input: Nutrient content / 100 x Application rate = kg nutrient/ha. Example: An application of a Liquid (w/v) High N (33-0-0) at 80L/ha would deliver…. Nutrient content / 100 x Application rate = kg nutrient/ha. (33/100) x 80 = 26.4 kg/ha N applied

Understanding Weight/Weight (W/W) and Weight/Volume (W/V)

Following the implementation of 2019/1009 EU Fertilising Products Regulation (FPR) the way some manufacturers will calculate the nutrient content of their liquid fertilisers is changing. This is important because it affects the way you calculate the amount of nutrient being applied. IMPORTANT: The products are not changing, just the way the nutrient content is shown. EXPLANATION: There are three possible methods for displaying the nutrient content of a liquid fertiliser…. • Weight/Weight (w/w) weight of nutrient per weight of liquid • Weight/Volume (w/v) weight of nutrient per volume of liquid • Volume/Volume (v/v) volume of nutrient per volume of liquid (not commonly used) To conform to the FPR regulations some manufacturers will change from a w/w method to a w/v method. For example:

Liquids

Water Fertiliser

25:0:0 (w/w)

A (w/w) Liquid High N 25:0:0 ...will change to... A (w/v) Liquid High N 33:0:0

Super Turf Solutions

Water Fertiliser

This makes the calculation of nutrient applied a lot simpler because the specific gravity is no longer needed.

33:0:0 (w/v)

Look after your turf and take care of the environment at the same time: It’s vital!

Managing Green spaces and sports pitches is becoming more complex! Indeed, apart from technical and economic challenges, climatic and environmental issues now need to be taken into account as part of ensuring that players are happy with the quality of turfed areas: • Building up the resilience of sports turf against stresses, including those associated with more and more marked climatic variations.

• Limiting the environmental impact of the imputs used. • Ensuring the health and safety of maintenance personnel. Within this context, the managers primary aim is to effectively manage the soil/plant system: • By ensuring optimum functioning of the soil microflora to guarantee root development and constant renewal. • By supplying correct and effective nutrition to guarantee regular absorbtion of the nutrients essential for turf growth. • By building up the turf’s resistance to the various forms of stress (biotic and abiotic).

Super Turf Solutions Marathon

In response to all these challenges, Olmix is proposing some innovative technologies, based on the circular economy, as well as a global approach to plant management. The solutions developed with this in mind mean that the quality and continuity of sports turf can be improved, while respecting the environment and user health.

Marathon Algae - The benchmark for sports turf and green spaces!

Benefiting from patented XSER® technology, and enriched with SEADRY® marine algae extracts, the Marathon Algae has been specially designed to meet the needs of the most demanding sports turf:

• Marathon Algae gradually releases the nutrients needed for the grass to grow while stimulating the soil’s bacterial activity thus avoiding the accumulation of undecomposed organic matters. • Marathon Algae contains SEADRY® algae extracts rich in marine sulphated polysaccharides beneficial for the satisfactory functioning of the soil microflora.

XSER® Technology - At the heart of the Marathon Algae What is XSER® technology? • XSER® technology is a contraction of <>. • Patented XSER® technology combines mineral fertiliser forms with variable kinetics of action with an organic substrate, aided by a plant polymer. This complex created in this way prevents the fertiliser from leaching and ensures that the plant is provided with a successive of nutritional elements.

18

01328 700600 | sales@collier-turf-care.co.uk | www.collier-turf-care.co.uk

What are the benefits of XSER® technology? • Sequential release of all the fertilising elements. • Reduction of fertiliser losses through leaching. • Better Valorisation of fertilising units. • Plant-based complexing agent respectful of the soil microflora and the environment. • Stimulation of biological activity by easily mineralisable organic input. • Optimisation of nitrogen-based nutrition in an ammoniacal form encouraging cell division rather than elongation.

SEADRY® - Marine Algae Extracts

Algae contain ingredients with stimulating properties for plants and the microbial flora in the soil. In-depth knowledge of marine algae and know-how about their conversion processes explains Olmix’s acknowledged expertise in the selection of algo-sourced ingredients with unique bioactive properties, very beneficial for terrestrial plants. This expertise gave rise to SEADRY® ( SEA weed DRY extracts): Dehydrated algae extracts, rich in nutrients which can be metabolised by the soil microflora. • Stimulation of the soil’s biological activity. • Supply of nutrients for the rhizosphere. Why are SEADRY algae extracts advantageous for turf growth? Due to their unique ingredients, particularly marine sulphated polysaccharides (MSP®), SEADRY® algae extracts encourage the development of the soil microflora and the root system.

Super Turf Solutions

Marine Sulphated Polysaccharides (MSP®) are complex natural macromolecules, synthesized by the algae. They have original and specific biological properties, valuable for the development of the soil microflora.

Simulating the microbial life of the soil increases the availability of nutrient elements for the plant, and encourages the development of the root system thus making the turf more resistant to environmental stresses (trampling, hydric stress, etc).

Super Bio-Nutrition Grow Room Trial Data

The formulation has been extensively tested in both field and laboratory trials to produce a reliable and effective product. The high-grade materials chosen have been uniquely blended to produce a multi-benefit plant stimulant and soil conditioner.

In a grow room study conducted in 2021, individual turfgrass plants were grown in inert dune sand to isolate the impacts of soil applied treatments. The performance of Prestige Super Bio-Nutrition was compared to an industry standard bio-nutrition product, in both optimal and drought stress conditions. By assessing above-ground biomass production, the researchers were able to find that Prestige Super Bio-Nutrition could significantly improve plant development in both optimal and stressful conditions.

Super Turf Solutions Super Bio-Nutrition

Super Bio-Nutrition Field Trial Data

A replicated field trial has also been carried out to assess the performance of Prestige Super Bio-Nutrition on a golf green. Strips of turf 2 metres in length were measured out on a links course golf green, before applying both Prestige Super Bio-Nutrition and an industry standard bio-nutrition product. The trial was designed to allow a hand-mower to be passed over each strip at the end of a 2 month late-spring/early-summer period. The clippings taken off by the mower could then be dried and weighed, giving an accurate estimate of biomass production and sward density, both of which are crucial for stress tolerance and recovery. The results of the trial showed that Prestige Super Bio-Nutrition significantly increased clipping yield in a mixed sward, indicating a denser and healthier turf surface.

The Problem - Thatch Thatch is defined as a build up of dead and living plant material between the soil and leaves of the plant. Thatch development is a natural process that occurs during normal turfgrass growth. However in managed turf excessive thatch can develop.

Causes include: • Excessive growth due to over fertilisation with nitrogen • Continuous low mowing • Poor microbial health in the soil

Problems caused by high Thatch levels: • Restricted air and water movement into the soil • Favourable conditions for disease • Spongy turf which is no longer firm – poor playing surfaces • Restricts the penetration of pesticides and fertilisers

Super Turf Solutions Soil / Plant Conditioners Simple Plant Sugars: Virtually all soils have high microbial populations. The simple plant sugars in D Thatch provide the microbes with a readily available food source rapidly increasing their population and activity. After an application of D Thatch the plant roots exude carbohydrates. This provides an energy source for the mycorrhizal fungi and rhizosphere bacteria that live in a close, mutually beneficial relationship with the plant. In exchange for an energy supply the mycorrhizal fungi provide the plant with a supply of nitrate and phosphate. This symbiotic relationship is essential for a healthy sward. The plant sugars are rapidly absorbed and assimilated by the plant cells providing an immediate energy source. Enzymes : Enzymes in the product degrade the thatch directly breaking it down into smaller molecules which the microbes can then digest. Growth Promoting Hormones : The cold-water extracted plant growth hormones and betaines in D Thatch help the plant with increased rooting and vigour. These growth promoting hormones combined with the simple plant sugars help to improve seed establishment. Soil Penetrant : The soil penetrant package in Super D Thatch ensures that the vital ingredients are moved into the rootzone where they are used most effectively. The Product - Super D Thatch A specially developed microbial biostimulant that boosts microbial populations, increases rooting and plant health and also helps in degrading thatch.
