Dedicated to the improvement & progress of competitive swimming Ladies and Gentlemen, Swimmers, Coaches, Officials and Spectators. It is my great privilege and honour to welcome you to an extra special Iceni Open, as this year’s event marks 50 years in the history of the Club! For half a century, Dereham Otters have fostered champions in the pool and character beyond it and whilst today’s meet is about fast swims, fierce competition and having fun, it is also a tribute to the generations who have trained, coached, volunteered, and cheered under the Dereham Otters banner for the past 50 years. As we celebrate this golden anniversary, let’s honour the values that have defined the Club since the beginning: respect for one another, perseverance through the ups and the downs, and a passion for competitive swimming. So, whether you’re chasing a medal, a personal best, or the sheer thrill of competing, you are part of a tradition that uplifts and unites us all. My deepest thanks go to our coaches, officials, volunteers and sponsor, Rogers and Norton Solicitors. Your dedication not only powers this meet but sustains the spirit of the Club day after day, year after year. Without each of you, events such as this and this legacy wouldn’t be possible. Swimmers : By competing here today, you are the living legacy of Dereham Otters, and today you write the next chapter for the Club. We really hope you enjoy your time here this weekend. Swim with courage, compete with honour and know that your efforts inspire us all. Spectators : Thank you for being here today. Your support and enthusiasm are invaluable to our competitors, so let’s make every effort to cheer them on! So without further ado, let the competition begin!
